This Cookie Policy explains how Wakelead, Inc. ("Wakelead", "we") uses cookies and similar technologies on wakelead.com (the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Policy.
Where required by GDPR or the EU ePrivacy Directive, we obtain your consent before setting non-essential cookies via our cookie consent banner. You can change your preferences at any time through the same banner or your browser settings.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit it. They allow the site to recognize your device, remember preferences, and provide core functionality. We also use related technologies such as localStorage and session tokens, which this policy treats the same as cookies.
2. Why we use cookies
- To keep you signed in (authentication and session management).
- To remember your preferences (e.g., theme).
- To record your cookie consent choices.
- To measure aggregate usage and improve the Service (if analytics is enabled).
Cookies set by the Service do not give us control over your device and do not install software on it.
3. Categories of cookies we use
Strictly necessary (first-party): required for the Service to operate. You cannot opt out of these. Examples: session cookie, CSRF token, cookie-consent record.
Functional (first-party): remember your preferences. Examples: theme selection (light/dark).
Analytics (first-party, if enabled): aggregated, privacy-respecting metrics that help us understand how the Service is used. Set only with your consent where required.
Advertising: we do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
4. Specific cookies we set
The Service sets the following first-party items:
session— keeps you signed in. HttpOnly, Secure. Strictly necessary.theme— remembers light/dark mode. Functional.consent— records your cookie-banner choices. Strictly necessary.
5. First-party and third-party cookies
Wakelead currently sets only first-party cookies. If we later introduce third-party services (for example, an analytics provider), we will update this policy and ask for your consent through the cookie banner where required.
6. How long cookies are stored
Some cookies are deleted as soon as you close your browser (session cookies). Others persist until they expire or you delete them (persistent cookies). The lifetime depends on the specific cookie:
session: cleared on logout or token expiry.theme: persistent, up to 1 year.consent: persistent, up to 12 months, after which we ask again.
7. Managing and disabling cookies
You can change your consent choices at any time through our cookie banner. Most browsers also let you delete or block cookies in their settings — refer to your browser's documentation. Disabling strictly necessary cookies will prevent core features such as sign-in from working.
8. Cookies and personal data
Some cookies process information that may qualify as personal data under GDPR or other privacy laws. Our handling of that data is governed by our Privacy Policy. For questions about cookies or personal data, contact [email protected].
9. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The current version is always available at wakelead.com/legal/cookies.
